There is the easy way, then there’s the hard way to tell this story
The easy way to tell this story is to say ROOK KAST (possibly related to JODO KAST) is SABINE WREN’S mother and her father is CLAN WREN part of HOUSE VIZSLA and he’s a chump…which is doubtful.
Based on the images, which are a striking resemblance, it would be an easy story to tell. It be a punk bitch story to tell. Like Disney got lazy and punked out to tell a good story, but the if the focus is on SABINE WREN who cares?
ROOK also BETRAYED the Mandalorian people. She was a TRAITOR! That story would have to be ferreted out and SABINE would have to deal with knowledge. Loving her betraying mother for the now IMPERIAL COMMANDOS under GAR SAXON, and joining the REBELS to fight the EMPIRE. That’s too much heavy storyline entwined and too complicated for rapid released of books to understand how SABINE psyche deals with all this foolishness. Those kinds of books don’t sell on general principle. Those AHSOKA is going well, SABINE is not a Jedi with powers.
The hard way to tell the story is to make BO-KATAN (some say KRYZE but we don’t) is the mother. We don’t like this story either. It’s still a punk move. It limits the overall Star Wars story.
SABINE WREN is voiced by Tiya Sircar who is of Southeast Asian descent. We LOVE that aspect of her. We want SABINE WREN TO STAY DESI MESH’LA. But this is Star Wars, no one cares. But we the fans who love representation do. And with the way RL is going, we need a figure of hope that one of these women of color will make it.
ROOK and BO are NOT women of color. For us, that is important. And flipping ROOK moreso, and BO of a lesser extent to WOCs is a bogus storytelling move. It’s lame. Keep them as drawn in the images, and give SABINE WREN a beautiful light-brown complexioned mother who fought hard as a Mandalorian Death Watch.
One of the women in the above scene should be SABINE’s mother.
The story is either of those women stuck close to BO-KATAN as long as she could, met a wonderful guy, tried to live a decent Mandalorian life, raise their daughter, then life changed. ANY story should be sweet and too the point. Not a entire segregated indie story arc that overshadows SABINE. Let’s keep the lead characters down than to make everyone a superstar in the story. Investiture should be where? That’s something that Disney likes. One at a time, it’s easier to SELL.
WHO is important in this story? SABINE WREN? Or who?
Sabine Wren
